Anyone can join!
Whether you are homeschooling, reading to a niece, nephew, or grandchild, or just want to read through the Bible intentionally with your own child(ren) this year, we welcome you to join us as we make our way through The Beginner's Bible. We will read the WHOLE Bible together, start to finish, starting in August and ending in April, and if you follow along with the dates in the plan, the stories line up with the Christmas and Easter holidays!
We used this plan to read through the Bible stories last year, and this year with a 4 1/2 year old, a 2 year old and a baby, we decided to use this again for our Bible curriculum. Last year I didn't have all the verses selected or the songs, so this year, we plan to focus more heavily on the Scripture memory. Each week includes 2-3 stories, a memory verse and a song that I have selected often from the text of one of the stories, or that fits the theme of the week well. Feel free to make this plan work however best fits your family, or keep reading to see how we plan to use it.
How to Use this Reading Plan
Daily reading
Each week includes 2-3 Bible stories to read to your kids. We like to plan to read through all 2-3 stories everyday at breakfast, roughly Monday-Friday, of course you can read it on the weekends as well. I chose this method so that our kids could become familiar with the stories, and tuck them away in their heart, rather than introduce a new story everyday. This year, I plan to incorporate narration as well, asking our oldest son to help narrate the stories back to me occasionally.
Memory Verses
Next, we are going to practice saying our Bible memory verse aloud together a few times a day. I will often read the verse aloud the first time to introduce it to our kids, and then have them repeat after me the second and third times, stopping after short phrases if the verse is long and breaking it up into smaller sections. My goal is for our oldest to be able to recite most of the verse on his own by the end of the week.
Song/Worship
Lastly, we end breakfast most mornings with worship time. This is nothing fancy, simply a worship song we listen to and dance along with straight from YouTube. I included a song for each week in the plan. When applicable the song will go along with one of the stories or themes, others are just favorites from my childhood, or that we have enjoyed listening to in our home together. To make finding these songs easy to follow along, I have included direct YouTube links when you download the PDF file to a computer by clicking on the name of the song.
Including Older Children/Personal Devotional Time
If you have older children, want to use this as your personal Bible reading plan, or want to use one day of the week to read directly from Scripture, The Beginner's Bible includes Scripture reference at the top of the page, under the story title for each story (see photo below). You can use this to know exactly where to find these stories in Scripture and follow along.

However you choose to use this plan, I pray it blesses you and your family. If you would be so kind, to share this post with a friend who might be interested in this reading plan too, I would greatly appreciate it. I pray that my simple plan inspires more families to be in God's word, to hide it in their hearts and to be transformed by the Holy Spirit this year! God bless.
